Who is Nanoslavic?

Nanoslavic is a Russian tech blogger and the author of many videos about unusual electronic DIY projects and various gadgets. He creates electronic circuits, 3D models for printing, programs, and games for microcontrollers and computers. He is well versed in electronics, programming, science, and technology. When developing his devices, he emphasizes the uniqueness of the idea.

He creates many devices solely to showcase them in his videos and gauge viewers' opinions. If the audience starts to vigorously discuss a new idea, the creator creates the next version of the device. If the idea attracts little interest, he abandons it.

For some devices, Nanoslavic openly publishes the schematics and code so others can replicate or improve them. However, he doesn't publish the source code for all of his projects, even when actively requested to do so. He explains that some projects he creates solely for sale and wants to keep them proprietary and unique.

Lately, he's been devoting a lot of time to homemade electronic game consoles. He has an idea for a series of game consoles based on the RiscV processor core simulator, where games and programs would run from a memory card. Running programs through the simulator would eliminate the need for a specific hardware platform. However, this project is still in development. Initially, he created a simulator for an 8-bit AVR microcontroller core, but later abandoned it in favor of the more flexible and open 32-bit RiscV core.

Besides electronic devices, Nanoslavic enjoys creativity: photography and digital art, including those created using neural networks.

What does Nanoslavic use to create its devices?

Currently, Nanoslavic primarily uses various models of STM32 microcontrollers in his projects. He creates programs for them in STM32CubeIDE in C or C++, and uploads firmware using the Chinese equivalent of STLink. However, some projects are built on AVR microcontrollers, for which he creates programs in Microchip Studio (formerly AVR Studio). There are also some projects on the ESP32, but they are still few in number. He creates programs for the ESP32 in EspressifIDE.

Interestingly, the author doesn't use the popular Arduino IDE to develop his projects due to its inconvenience and limitations. He does, however, occasionally use ready-made Arduino electronic modules, but he creates programs for them in more professional IDEs and uploads firmware using a programmer rather than the microcontroller's built-in bootloader.

He creates computer programs in Visual Studio using C#. He creates Android and web games in Unity. He also knows the LabVIEW programming language.

Here is a list of the programs he uses when working on his projects:

Where did the name Nanoslavic come from?

The author came up with his nickname "Nanoslavic" by combining his first name, Vyacheslav (Slava), with the term "nanotechnology", which is sometimes used humorously in relation to complex, obscure, or unusual devices.

How old is Nanoslavic?

The author currently remains private about his age and personal life. However, his first YouTube video was uploaded in 2018.
